We are Awaken Church. We are reliable 1/4 of the time. Luckily, Jesus is reliable 4/4 of the time. We meet twice a week in Greensboro, NC to work out this discrepancy.
This week, nov. 8 we will be at the Mullins’. Next week, we will meet on Tuesday at the Kingswood house to prepare shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Last year we did 15, so let’s see if we can meet that goal again!
Sunday Sept. 18 Jonathan has been asked to fill-in for Pastor James Jordan at Magnolia St. Baptist Church located on East Wendover Ave. for their morning and evening services. Awaken has agreed to move their service that evening from the Kingswood House to Magnolia St. at 6 PM. Instead of meeting at the Kingswood House, we will be meeting at Magnolia St. Baptist in front of Moses Cone Hospital (or beside Pam’s work). L.C. this week will be on the lawn outside of Founder’s Hall at Guilford College. We will be joining Guilford Christian Fellowship for a picnic and prayer walk at 5:30. Call Jonathan @ 423-742-0709 for more info. or just bring yourself.
Also, for those who are involved in the Common Ground ministry @ Florida St., there will be an organizational meeting after the kids leave on Wed., Aug. 17. I hope that everyone will be in prayer that the kingdom of God will be advanced through this.
Sunday evening July 24 we will move our service to South Elm Street Baptist Church. Missionary John Leonard, Jonathan’s uncle will be here from Brazil speaking on that evening.
We will meet for L.C. at the Pugh’s. My number is 423-742-0709 despite what the website says. We will discuss Experiencing God. Look forward to seeing everybody.
This coming Sunday will be directed for a very special service. We will be devoting ourselves to prayer about having worship and building community with some of the folks in the Florida St. neighborhood.
June 12th, we will have our first Sunday evening worship on the property at 1403 Florida St. rather that at the Kingswood residence. Please come to the rear entrance where we will be. Call Jonathan 423-742-0709 if you have any questions. We hope you are able to join us.
On Good Friday, we will be hosting Secret Church at the Pughs. There will be sandwiches to eat, but the main purpose is to gather around God’s Word and pray for persecuted church’s around the world. The simulcast will be David Platt teaching, so it should be intense and challenging. The event is from 7 pm-1 am, but come join us for as long as you can.
This week we will have L.C. on a different night, different place, for the purpose of prayerfully serving. Meet at Florida Street Baptist Church at 6 PM on Wed. 4/6 to simply help with the ministry to kids and teenagers. Be praying about how God wants us to serve our community as a part of being community together.
In I Corinthians 15 Paul puts the resurrection of Christ at the center of everything he has built his life and ministry around. What is so important about the resurrection? As we begin to look toward Easter, this is what we will be discussing. Sunday @ 6 PM, 4713 Kingswood Drive. Life Community Tuesday at 7 PM. Come experience a living community whose life is also bound up in resurrection!
